The Sunshine Vitamin

Vitamin D is one of the few nutrients that has gotten its deserved attention in mainstream health media and conventional medicine. What we commonly call the “sunshine vitamin” is so crucial to your health that it’s added into foods that don’t normally contain it to prevent deficiencies, anywhere from dairy AND almond milk to breakfast cereals, margarine, and orange juice. People don’t generally get rickets anymore from D-deficiency, but it’s estimated that ¾ of American adults and adolescents aren’t getting the amount needed to support immune function, utilize calcium, or control inflammation.
